About
The aim of the Waste Game is to transmit waste prevention and recycling knowledge to university students and staff. By playing this game, you will not only learn more about specific waste-related topics, but also receive practical tips on how you can prevent waste, properly recycle waste and ultimately, actively reduce your environmental impact.
Developed as part of the EPA-IUA Campus Living Labs Sustainability Project, this game was designed by The Behaviouralist in collaboration with four universities, namely University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin City University (DCU), Maynooth University (MU), and Trinity College Dublin (TCD), and relevant stakeholders, including MyWaste.ie, An Taisce Green Campus and Regional Waste Authorities.
This game was designed as an online interactive educational tool and structured around the waste hierarchy framework, focusing on waste prevention followed by recycling. The content of the game was informed by a literature review, resources developed by MyWaste.ie and waste characterisation studies conducted by the EPA in partner universities.
The game was first piloted during the Autumn semester of 2022. Click here to learn more about the pilot.
